The ALOUD study

For my PhD project I investigate how biological lifestyle factors determine learning performance in adult students participating in distance education. What is meant with ‘biological lifestyle factors’? To be more specific, I mean physical activity, sleep and nutrition. These three factors influence our brain in a biological way and are related to our cognitive functions. This means that these biological factors may influence our brain and thus the resulting learning performance. That is what I investigate in my project.


For example, people who are more physically active could perform differently from people who are less physically active in terms of learning performance.


My project is called the ALOUD project. This is an acronym for Adult Learning Open University Determinants.
